A brilliant olive-green hue very characteristic of this single vineyard Chardonnay. The aromatics of this wine is driven by fresh peach pip, lime and a gentle influence from oak. The age of these vines still prove to produce lovely restraint, tightly structured wines which are rather perfumed when young but develop beautifully from time spent in bottle, 2-5 years from release.
A strict selection of Elgin’s best quality vineyards. A more restrained style of Sauvignon blanc showing fresh granadilla and green apple fruit, with underlying chalk and slate notes confirming the Elgin origin of the grapes. The palate is finely textured with soft fruit, tight acidity, and a deceptively long finish of flavours. A wine showing the true expression of Elgin terroir on Sauvignon blanc.
The nose initially shows primary Sauvignon Blanc fruit aromas, including flavours of guava and white pear. These notes are underpinned by a fresh zesty core, complemented by lime, oyster shell salinity and some spicy celery leaf notes. The palate is fresh, with vibrant acidity and tropical fruit aromas carrying through. Six months' lees contact has bolstered the mouth-feel, adding weight and structure to the pallet. This wine will be ideally paired with sushi, grilled fish and shell fish. Enjoy now or to 2020.
This is a brand new and exciting wine to our Hong Kong portfolio. Made by one of the Swartland's rising stars, Craig Hawkins. Made from a 0.7ha block of 32 year old vines planted on a north-west facing slope which has a lot of the exposed Lammershoek granite which is abundant in the Paardeberg. The bush vines are farmed dry-land and organically.
Cartology is intended to be a picture of the Cape, seen through the lens of her mature vineyards, in a given vintage. Therefore, the cuveé is composed of rare and extraordinary parcels of mature dryland bushvines. Naturally, the varieties used are also heritage varieties, namely Chenin blanc and Semillon which have been planted in the Cape for centuries.
